Premium TAXCUT evaluation March 30, 2006 John L. Toole (Copenhagen, Denmark) This software program offers two major advantages over its immediate completion:
1. Will ship to an APO address
2. Mix and match program offerings--such as choice of Premium Federal configurations without having to accept a State program.
I include investments and rental property in my return and found TAXCUT covered them well. However, one should not become too complacent as they plug in the numbers. Always review the completed forms, after printing them out, to insure accuracy and guard against double entries.
I would suggest the Premium program even for less complicated returns so as not to miss any potential deductions.
AMAZON also provided immediate service to correct a shipping problem.

I had to wait until late February for HR Block to make
current updates to TaxCut 2005 Premium before I could
complete my tax return.
I was not able to see any of the forms TaxCut was
filling out until after they were all completed and
ready for printing and filing. This is just a bit
too opaque for my taste.
Descent, but not great... February 12, 2006 mabinmaui (Austin, TX) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I originally bought the deluxe version, but switched to premium b/c I needed more help with ESPP and stock options. The program is easy to use just like previous years and importing data from last year is a snap. It also has more rental property help than the deluxe version. I think most people will find this program along with the companion DeductionPro to be quite useful and probably all that's needed to complete their tax returns. However, despite H&R's claims, I find the premium version to be woefully lacking in its ability to handle ESPP and stock options. For example, after answering a few questions, the program reported that my stock dispositions were disqualifying, which I knew already. It didn't offer any means to enter transaction details and place them into the appropriate form, in this case schedule D. The help menu wasn't much help at all. After a google search, I ended up on the turbotax website for details on how to enter capital gains from a disqualifying disposition. For the price paid, I expect a complete solution!!!
useless April 7, 2006 L. Fuller This software can't process the info you enter from your w2 correctly. When it comes to capital gains and losses you may as well read the IRS instructions.
Buy TurboTax instead February 20, 2006 Laura Van Sickle (Nashville, TN) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been using Turbotax for a few years now, and decided to try Taxcut this year simply because it was less expensive. It was a mistake. Taxcut was not able to update to the latest version, even tho it kept trying. I finally had to manually update the version, but Taxcut still did not recognize it. None of my forms would print without the update. I then bought Turbotax and was finished with my taxes in 1.5 hours. The difference between what Taxcut said I owed and what Turbotax said I owed was $1300, well worth the higher price of Turbotax.
